CMMS
CMMS would like to share the importance of students arriving on time to school each day. We have recently seen a large increase in students arriving late—particularly on Wednesday mornings. This means these students are missing valuable instruction.
Cougar Mountain's Smarter Balanced Assessments will be given May 2nd & 3rd and May 9th & 10th. All grades will have assessments in their SOAR classroom from 8:35am - 10:30am. Please have all students come to school with their laptops fully charged on testing days.
The Resource Royale SOAR Competition is a time where Cougar Mountain Middle School will be donating items to two very worthy organizations that contribute to our community members in need: Northwest Harvest and the Seattle Humane Society.
In order to help families plan for the coming months, here are a list of key dates impacting this school year, please update your calendars.
District
On April 16, the Bond Advisory Committee had its seventh meeting, and spent time discussing three possible scenarios as a starting point for a potential bond package in November. District administrators also gathered committee members’ feedback about what projects they think should be included in or excluded from the possible bond package.
On April 18, 2024, the Instructional Materials Committee recommended the following curriculum materials to the ISD School Board for approval at the May 9, 2024 board meeting: 6th Grade FLASH Curriculum Updates and Middle School Math Curriculum (envision Mathematics Common Core). Materials will be on public display at the ISD administration building lobby from April 19-April 26.
As one of the options for middle school students to personalize math learning, "Pathway D" provides an acceleration option for students who are ready to skip sixth grade math, seventh grade math, and most of eighth grade math, beginning middle school in the course referred to as "CC 8/Algebra 1." Students must demonstrate mastery of eighth grade math skills on a district-administered assessment.
The Issaquah School District’s Food Service department strives to ensure the safest possible environment for all students. Some students in our district have a variety of life-threatening food allergies. We offer tools to help students and parents review ingredients in our menu items.
The Cultural and Family Partnerships Team invites new families in the ISD, especially ones new to the U.S. school system, to “Family Connections Question and Answer Sessions” on Wednesday, April 24. A morning and an evening session will be offered. Each session is an opportunity to meet the Family Partnership staff and learn to navigate our schools.
