Welcome Parents and Caregivers of Incoming 6th Grade Cougar Mountain Falcons! (Current 5th Graders)

All 5th Grader Visit to CMMS Weds Feb 26th 10:45-11:45am 

We are excited to welcome current 5th graders who will attend Cougar Mountain Middle School next year on a visit to CMMS. This is a school trip and 5th graders will attend this visit with their teacher from our main feeder elementary schools: Newcastle, Cougar Ridge & Issaquah Valley.  They will tour the CMMS building, meet counselors and administrators and learn about academic and extra-curricular opportunities in middle school! 

Fifth graders in district programs currently at other elementary schools are also welcome to attend this event! We can’t wait to welcome our “future Falcons”, show them around the campus and share with them what makes CMMS so great! This event is for students only. 

5th Grade Info Night for Parents & Caregivers is Wed Feb 26th

Parents and Caregivers of incoming 6th graders are invited to attend our Info Night on Wednesday, February 26th. See times below. Parking is limited at CMMS, so carpooling is strongly encouraged. Parking will be available in the garage, student drop off loop and bus loop. Parking is limited and will need to be maximized. Please Park in spaces that match your car size so that you don't use more than one space. Thank you. 

- IEP/MLL Session: A Specialized Session is offered from 5:15pm to 5:45 pm for parents & caregivers with students who have Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and receive Special Education services as well as parents and caregivers who have students who are currently receiving Multi Language Learner (ELL) Services. This session is only for families who have a student with a current IEP or MLL plan.

- Extra- Curricular & Electives Fair: Parents and caregivers may join us for the optional Extra-Curricular and Electives Fair happening in our Commons from 5:45-6:15 pm. Parents and caregivers will learn about various opportunities students have to get involved at CMMS including clubs, sports, activities and elective classes!

- General Session: Our General Session will be from 6:15-7:15 pm and will cover information regarding academics, electives, course request process, counseling program and extra curriculars. This event is for parents and caregivers only as we do not have space for students to attend this event.

- Timeline & Resources: The course request window will be open from Wed. March 5th, 2025, and end on Fri. March 21, 2025. Resources and information will be posted as helpful reference and for parents and caregivers who are unable to attend. We encourage students and families to look over the materials, talk with their student’s current teacher and discuss preferences with their student to guide course request choices.

- Zoom Q & A: There will be Zoom Q&A sessions with CMMS Counselors regarding course request on Friday 3/7 from 1-2:00 pm and Wed. 3/12 from 8:30-9:30 am. Zoom link will be sent closer to those dates.
