Information on Moving to our New Building: Falcons Making our Way to our “Permanent Perch”
Dear CMMS Families,
Our Falcon Flock is moving to our permanent perch in the Talus neighborhood! This enews is our way of combining important information and resources to support CMMS students and families as we make this long-awaited transition to our new building!
We will ring in the month of March at the new building! Our first student day at our new building will be Tues. 3/1st. Our new school building is located in the Talus neighborhood of Issaquah at 1929 NW Talus Dr., Issaquah, WA 98027. Click here to read more about the construction of this building. We are busy creating a variety of lessons, activities and resources to support students get ready for this move!
We know the #1 worry of students is finding their classes and traveling a five-story building. We are working to address this concern lessons and activities for students. We will have our ASB and WEB student leaders play an important role in helping students get to where they need to go. And students will receive a map of the school and have an opportunity to learn where their classes are in the new building.
CMMS Calendar/Moving Timeline:
- Friday 2/18 No School for Students (for staff to pack)
- Mon. 2/21 – Fri. 2/25 Mid-Winter Break (No School)
- Mon. 2/28th No School for Students (for staff to unpack & set up)
- Tues. 3/1st Welcoming Students at New Building!
Note about the Timeline:
On Fri. 2/18 and also on Mon. 2/28, CMMS students will not attend school. There will also be no afterschool sports or activities on these days. These will be considered non-student workdays for CMMS staff to move out of our temporary alternative campus and set up our spaces for students at our new building. Students will not make these days up at the end of the school year.
PTSA Assistance in Move:
Please ensure you are a PTSA member and receive PTSA communication. There will be opportunities to assist in our packing up at the Ringdall campus and the welcoming of students at our new building. Please stay tuned!
Student Leaders Field Trip:
WEB and ASB students are invited to take part in a field trip to our new building on Thursday Feb 17th so long as the City of Issaquah grants us a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO). We know these student leaders are an important part of welcoming our student body to our new building. If you are a parent of a WEB or ASB student leader be on the look out for field trip paperwork!
Learning the New Building:
We are busy planning a variety of lessons and activities to help students learn the layout of the new building including where their classes will be located and how to get there! We encourage families to reassure their student that the CMMS staff is dedicating time to help students feel comfortable in their new school building.
Lockers:
Lockers will be issued to students once they arrive at our new building. If your student does not have much practice with a combination lock, we encourage families to practice with students at home if possible. We will also have practice opportunities at school. Stay tuned on more information about locker assignments.
Bus Transportation:
We are very excited to begin bussing CMMS students to their new school! Bus routes and pick up times may be changing for some students. The Transportation Department will send out a Blackboard message to students’ primary contact to alert families when the new bus routes are available to view. This alert will be sent out the week of February 14th. When families receive the Blackboard message, they will login to E-link to view their student’s new bus route information.
- Login directions, username, and password for E-link can be found on this page, Find Your Bus Route - Issaquah School District 411 (isd411.org). Please note that the E-link login is different from the Skyward login. Students who have difficulty logging in can get assistance by emailing transportation-enews@issaquah.wednet.edu.
- If you have questions about the new routes, please call 425-837-6342. If your student has two home addresses, they will need to get a new bus pass from the CMMS office for the second address. New EDA routes can be found here, Find Your Bus Route - Issaquah School District 411 (isd411.org), on or after February 16th.
- We expect potential traffic delays at first as we learn how to best do school on Talus. We encourage families to have their child ride the bus to our new building.
